Pilkada Tak Berdampak Signifikan pada Perekonomian DKI

Regional Election Won’t Affect City Economic

The 2017 Regional Election will not affect the economic in the capital. Transaction value is almost the same with common day.

Our expectation the impact will grow up. But it can not go up further since the transaction value remains low

Jakarta Head Deputy of Bank Indonesia Representative, Fadjar Majardi, said total transaction of next year’s election is predicted to reach Rp 1.1 trillion. In fact, the economic activity in Jakarta reaches Rp 6 trillion per day.

“Our expectation the impact will grow up. But it can not go up further since the transaction value remains low,” he said during BI Media Gathering in Pantara Island, Seribu Island, Monday (11/14).

City KPU Difficult to Collect Apartment Data

According to him, transaction value in the capital could reach Rp 2,190 trillion in a year, while the regional election only runs in three months.

Low election transaction is also caused by new regulation. Election participants must not provide the campaign attributes fully. Some of the attributes are provided by General Election Commission (KPU).

Next, the campaign is mostly run through social media. “It’s also the impact of technology. Social media also cuts the cost,” he added.

Moreover, regional election for Jakarta is different with other regions. Jakartans only vote for Governor and Vice Governor, while the mayor and regent will be directly appointed by the governor.
